👩‍🎓 A Record Year For Fife College

Fife College is celebrating a record year for Modern Apprenticeships, with over 400 new apprentices starting this year across a wide range of sectors, including Automotive, Business, Childcare, Construction, Engineering, Healthcare, and Life Sciences.

This milestone comes after Fife College secured its largest Modern Apprenticeship contract ever, with Skills Development Scotland awarding 438 new apprenticeship places for 2025/26. That brings the total number of apprentices supported by the College this academic year to more than 1,200, in a programme valued at almost £2.5 million.

Engineering remains a standout area, with 135 new apprentices starting their careers this year. Earlier in the summer, the College teamed up with Navantia UK to run an information session for engineering students, showcasing apprenticeship opportunities and career pathways. The session was such a success that 15 apprentices were appointed, even though only 14 roles were initially available.

🚆 ScotRail’s New Budget-Friendly Family Travel Pass

It feels like the schools have only just started again, but the autumn holidays are just around the corner. Many parents and grandparents will be thinking of ways to enjoy some family time and keep the kids entertained.

Just in time, ScotRail has launched a perfect solution. For only £50, the ScotRail Family Pass gives up to 2 adults and 4 children unlimited travel on ScotRail services for 7 days from the date of purchase. You can buy it any day from the 6th to the 20th of October at any ticket office or onboard a train. It’s valid for standard class travel after 9:15am Monday to Friday and anytime at the weekend.

  • Take the train to Dundee and explore the RRS Discovery
  • Visit the Perth Museum and see the Stone of Destiny
